The Wake up Windhoek Foundation

In addition to The Penduka Daycare Centre Trust which is a registered trust in Namibia (Reference PEN6/0001/AHP) we are fortunate to have fantastic support from a dedicated Foundation in The Netherlands. The Wake up Windhoek Foundation is registered with the Hague Chamber of Commerce (Reference 27345264) and the Foundation is very active in raising funds for Wake up!

Activities

The Wake up Windhoek Foundation has an active core of about 25 supporters who have made a personal commitment to contribute financially every month by becoming a Friend of Wake up! This regular income of around N$8,000 per month is invaluable in helping to keep Wake up! afloat. The Wake up Windhoek Foundation  also actively raises funds through schools, churches and individuals in the Netherlands. To achieve this, members give presentations which introduce Wake up! and give background information on who we are and what we do. In many cases, this inspires and motivates the audience to launch a fundraising initiative of their own to support Wake up!  In 2014 the amount raised through these activities amounted to N$150,000. Many of these events are profiled on our News page, and also grateully acknowledged on our Donors and Partners page.

"I like a dynamic job, where you can actually make a difference, building up a school and seeing children grow day-by-day. It’s an intense job but very rewarding! I enjoy preparing themes for the children to broaden their horizons, making them more aware of all the exciting things around them ready to be discovered."
