Contribute towards our Building Fund
Since the beginning of 2013 preparations have been underway for the next building phase. Early that year through sponsorship of the Lions Club Windhoek Alte Feste a fence was erected around the school’s property. In addition Murray and Roberts, a local building company, helped to level the plot and put in pipes to channel the storm water which runs over the school grounds during the rainy season. These works paved the way for new developments: extension of the playground, setting up a vegetable garden and adding on two new classrooms. In August 2013 the Lions Club Windhoek Alte Feste teamed up with the Harry Lierens Foundation from The Netherlands (who sponsored the furnishings of the kitchen in 2011). Both organisations pledged 50% of the building cost of two new classrooms. The builder started in September and the project was completed on schedule by the start of December. This meant that from January 2014 we were able to take in double the number of children.
Further Building Plans
A flat for the caretaker
Our building plan incorporates a small flat for the caretaker who lives on the school premises. In 2009 the trust bought a caravan as temporary housing for the caretaker, as funds were insufficient to build a flat. This is where he still lives. The cost of a small flat is estimated at €15,000.
