Over the past year the protestant primary schools Wakersduin, Zeehonk, Hoffenne/Vierboet, Duinpieper, Zorgcentrum Willem van de Bergh and the protestant church in Noordwijk raised funds for Wake up! On the 11th of September a cheque was handed over to the Stichting Wake up! Windhoek for an amount of € 12,904.48.

We are delighted to share the news that the Harry Lierens Foundation from The Netherlands and the Lions Club Windhoek Alte Feste have joined hands and agreed to each finance 50% of a new block of two classrooms. Building starts this month and will be finished by December. This means in January we can double the number of children we are giving a headstart in education!
In August Wake up! organised a Pre-school Athletics Funday for about 200 children from seven centres in Otjomuise. Quite a challenge! The local constituency provided youth volunteers, Wake up! staff and parents gave their best and many spectators came to support their athletes.

Murray & Roberts, a major building company in Windhoek, is helping us to level the plot of the centre and put in pipes to channel the storm water. This will make the grounds ready for adding classrooms, extending the playground and setting up a vegetable garden. Lots of projects to plan and look forward to!
